What a Custom Whiteboard Actually Costs (and How the Process Works)

The short answer: most custom whiteboards from Girl Friday cost between $130 and $450. A framed board starts at $130, a clear acrylic board starts at $150, and our largest white magnetic board is $550. Putting your own heading and column titles on the board costs nothing extra. You approve a proof before we make anything, and most boards ship 3–5 business days after you approve it.

We make every board in-house in Utah. Below is the full price list, what is included, what changes the price, and exactly what happens after you click order.

Custom whiteboard prices by size and material

The price depends on two things: the size of the board and what it is made of. Your design does not change the price as long as you are changing the heading and the column titles.

Acrylic boards (floating, mounted off the wall)

Size (width × height) Clear acrylic White acrylic White magnetic acrylic
23″ × 18.5″ $150 $200 $240
31″ × 23″ $240 $270 $310
35″ × 23″ $310 $300 $350
42″ × 27″ $400 $365 $425
48″ × 36″ $395 $450 $550 (46″ × 34″)

Any of these boards can also be made in a vertical layout.

Framed boards

Size (width × height) Standard 1″ frame Premium 2″ frame
24″ × 18″ $130 $185
36″ × 24″ $180 $275

The standard frame comes in rustic gray, white, black, blonde or almond (almond adds $15). The premium 2″ frame is made by a local custom frame shop in rustic gray, whitewashed or maple.

Prices were checked in October 2026. The product page always shows the current price.

What is included at no extra cost

  • Your heading and column titles. Tell us what you track and we lay it out. There are five fonts to choose from for the heading.
  • Printing that will not wear off. Acrylic boards are printed on the back, so you write on a smooth surface and the lines never rub away. The prototype calendar that has hung in our kitchen since 2013 still looks great.
  • Mounting hardware. Everything you need to hang it is in the box. Acrylic boards use standoff mounts in silver, gold, black or white. You do not need to find a stud.
  • A marker to start with. Acrylic boards come with a wet-erase marker. Framed boards come with one wet-erase and one dry-erase marker.
  • White text if your wall is dark. Any clear board can be printed with white text instead of black. Just say so in the order note.
  • A proof before we make it. Nothing gets printed until you have seen it.

What changes the price

Size is the biggest factor. Going from our smallest clear board to the 42″ × 27″ size moves the price from $150 to $400.

Material is next. Framed boards cost the least. At the smaller sizes, clear acrylic costs less than white. From 35″ wide and up, our clear boards are made from thicker acrylic, so clear and white come out close in price. White magnetic acrylic holds magnets and costs the most at every size.

The frame upgrade. The premium 2″ frame adds $55 on the 24″ × 18″ size and $95 on the 36″ × 24″.

A more involved design. Changing the heading, the column titles and number of columns is free. If you want something beyond that, such as a new layout, extra sections or icons, there may be a design fee. Additional customization usually ranges from $20 to $100, depending on the complexity of the design. If you are not sure whether your idea counts, send us a design request first and we will let you know.

Your logo. We can add it for an extra fee. Ask us and we will tell you the cost before we start.

Colored markers. A set of water-based Frauliner markers from Germany adds $30. They wipe off acrylic with a damp paper towel and leave nothing behind.

How ordering a custom whiteboard works

  1. Pick the board. Start with the Design Your Own listing in the material you want: framed, clear acrylic, white acrylic or white magnetic acrylic. Or start from one of our ready-made business boards. Many of them can have their columns changed too.
  2. Tell us what goes on it. Give us your heading and your column titles when you order. For a design that is more than a heading and columns, fill out the design request form before you order.
  3. Check your proof. We email a proof within 1–3 business days. It comes from Girl Friday Office, so check your spam folder if you do not see it. More involved designs can take up to two weeks. Approve it or ask for changes. If we do not hear back from you, we go ahead and make the board as shown.
  4. We make and ship it. Your board ships 3–5 business days after you approve the proof, and you get a tracking email.
  5. It arrives. Most orders in the US arrive 1–6 business days after they ship, depending on how far you are from Utah. In total, plan on one to three weeks from order to wall. If you need it by a certain date, tell us before you order.

Framed, clear or white: which one to choose

Choose framed if you want the lowest price or think your columns might change. A framed board is an acrylic writing surface over a printed poster, inside a frame. If your process changes next year, we can print a new poster and you swap it into the same frame.

Choose clear acrylic if you want the board to look like part of the wall. You see the wall color through it, so black text suits light walls and white text suits dark ones. Ceiling lights close to the wall can cast a faint shadow of the grid lines. If you are unsure, order a sample and hold it an inch off your wall.

Choose white acrylic if you want a clean white surface that hides the wall, or if your lighting would cast shadows through clear acrylic.

Choose white magnetic acrylic if you want to move magnets around, such as name tags on a staffing board. It only works with strong neodymium magnets. Thin fridge magnets will not hold. Here is what works.

How to plan your columns before you order

The proof goes faster when you send us a clear plan. Most good boards come from answering three questions.

What do you look at every day? Those are your columns. A real estate team might use client, address, stage, closing date and next step. A clinic might use patient, room, doctor and status. If something only gets checked once a month, it probably belongs in your software, not on the wall.

How many rows do you need? Rows on our acrylic boards are 1″ tall. A vertical 18.5″ × 23″ board gives you 18 rows, 23″ × 31″ gives you 26, 23″ × 35″ gives you 31, and 36″ × 48″ gives you 41. Count your busiest week and add a few.

Which column needs the most room? Tell us. We can make that column wider and the others narrower.

Questions we get asked

How much does a custom whiteboard cost?

Most custom whiteboards from Girl Friday cost $130 to $450. Framed boards start at $130, clear acrylic boards start at $150, white acrylic boards start at $200, and white magnetic acrylic boards range from $240 to $550.

Is customizing the column titles free?

Yes. Changing the heading, the column titles and number of columns costs nothing extra. A more involved design, such as a new layout or extra sections, may carry a design fee, and we will tell you before we start.

How long does a custom whiteboard take?

We send a proof within 1–3 business days, and we try to ship the board 3–5 business days after you approve it. Most US orders arrive 1–6 business days after shipping. Plan on one to three weeks in total.

Can you add our company logo?

Yes, for an extra fee. Ask us and we will tell you the cost before we start.

Can I change the columns later?

On a framed board, yes. We can print a new poster with different columns and you swap it into the same frame. Acrylic boards are printed permanently on the back, so new columns mean a new board.

Do I need to hang the board on a stud?

No. All the hanging hardware is included, and you do not need to mount the board on a stud.

Can I return a custom whiteboard?

No. Custom boards are made to order and cannot be returned. You can cancel for a full refund until we start designing your board.

What markers work best on a custom whiteboard?

Wet-erase markers write darker and do not smudge when your hand brushes the board. You wipe them off with a damp paper towel. Dry-erase markers are easier to erase but write lighter. Here is our full marker guide.
